The French language college in Antibes offers French courses with other teenage language students, who have a similar French language level. Students are immersed in France, speaking French with native French speaking teachers and the “animateurs” (who help organise the social activities each week) and are encouraged to socialise and make the most of their time in France.
The French language lessons are based on songs, films, comic strips or other current documents of interest to stimulate student interest and to keep the lessons dynamic. Social activities provide contrast and bring an additional element of fun to the overall programme.
The French language college staff are aware that the students are on holiday and therefore do all they can to ensure students enjoy their French experience, both in and outside the classroom.
Antibes/Juan les Pins offers everything the French language student needs, all the benefits of the Riviera, with the charm of the picturesque streets of Antibes, splendid sandy beaches and plenty of sunshine and yet is only 13 km from Nice airport. The college has offered Teenage French language courses for many years now and provides programmes over the Easter, half-term and Summer holidays.
During July and August, the classes and accommodation are offered on two self-contained residential campus sites. Those who wish to stay with local French hosts, study in a separate language college.
The combination of the French language lessons with a busy activity programme has real appeal! Every morning, from Monday to Friday, students study French in the classroom and then each afternoon are kept busy by the dedicated French group leaders, who organise a range of sporting, social and cultural activities either on site or in the local area. The weekends are dedicated to activities or free time. So if you like to be busy, this is the perfect French language course for you!
The two summer college residential campuses are well located outside the busy heart of Antibes/Juan les Pins. Both college buildings are entirely self-contained complexes. The building contains classrooms, a campus refectory (where meals are provided on a full-board basis), the college office and residential accommodation; bedrooms and corridor showers/wc's facilities.
The college may open a third smaller residential site, during the Easter, half-term and September period, (if student numbers make this viable) but here students have to walk or take a bus to the nearby college premises for classes. Otherwise students are housed with local French hosts.
Standard French Programme
One, two, three or four week programmes
20 group language lessons per week
Up to 15 students per class level
45 minutes per lesson
No lessons on the first Monday
In total there are 36 language lessons over 2 weeks (unless a day is lost to a public holiday). This is equal to a term of contact lessons at most UK schools and you are immersed in France, speaking French with native French speaking teachers and the group leaders (who help organise the social activities each week).
Intensive French Programme
One, two, three or four week programmes
20 group language lessons plus an extra 5 additional lessons per week
Up to 15 students per class level in AM
Up to 6 students per class level in PM, (held on Tuesday and Thursday)
45 minutes per lesson
No lessons on the first Monday
The additional PM sessions are perfect for those who wish to use this chance for extra practise in the French language so that they can improve their oral skills. Small class sessions ensure ample opportunity to talk!
A range of activities are offered as an inclusive part of this programme including 1/ a half-day trip 2/ a full day trip and 3/ a weekly barbecue or Crepes party. Various activities are organised such as sports tournaments, themed activities etc. On Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings the group leaders offer a fun evening programme with games and entertainment.
Additional activities are offered as a rolling programme of events during the summer at additional cost. Students are advised of the options once in France, via a notice board in each Centre (i.e. water-skiing or horse-riding, all taught through local clubs by certified national qualified instructors).
No activities take place on the first or last day of a course, as the group leaders are busy helping students settle in, or depart at the end of their stay.
Summer Residence Campus TWO / July & August
Located in a quiet setting, just 2.5km from central Antibes, this Centre provides two buildings of 90 bedrooms, surrounded by superb gardens. The building is a French Lycee, dedicated to Horticulture. It is a busy academic site for the majority of the year and is used as a language college only in the summer months.
There is a student cafeteria, indoor and outdoor sport grounds for basketball and volleyball, an outdoor - above ground - pool and an amphitheatre, which is perfect for evening events! The residence bedrooms are for 2 or 4 students with bathrooms and wc's on the corridor (no air conditioning). There are no phones in the rooms, however students have access to a public phone. Full board is offered on site (except on excursion days when a picnic is provided instead).
Summer Residence Campus ONE / July
A newly renovated campus, situated just north of Antibes, some 6 km from the city centre and the beaches. This modern campus has a 330 student capacity in two buildings. Again this is a busy academic site, when not used as a language college in the summer period.
The campus offers a self-service restaurant, a snack bar, TV room, sports grounds and a large - above ground - swimming pool. The residence bedrooms are for 3 students with their own shower and 2 sinks. Wc's are available along the corridor (no air conditioning). There are no phones in the rooms, however students have access to a public phone. Full board is offered on site (except on excursion days when a picnic is provided instead).
Whilst we will do our best to ensure you are placed in the residence of your choice, we cannot guarantee a specific site. Student placement is based on achieving the best mix of age, nationality and language ability in both residences, to ensure the best social and working environment, for every student.
Generally only used during the Easter & June period
Just 600m from the beaches and 500m from central Juan-les-Pins, it is a great location to make the most of all the town has to offer. Simple, basic standard rooms for 2 to 4 students. Each room has a private bathroom. There is a small splash pool on site, but no sports facilities available. The evening meal is arranged at the residence, otherwise meals and lessons are held at the language college (just 1200m away). A shuttle bus takes teenage and adult students alike from the residence, to the college each morning (one way service only), a daily ticket costs one Euro.
