Mornings: German classes. Only German is spoken in the classroom and the teachers are demanding. Students study and practice German: 1/ Grammar, 2/ Composition, 3/ Vocabulary & 4/ Conversation – in total for three hours of structured study per day.
Students are divided into classes based on their levels of ability. They are drawn from a wide range of native languages, so only German is spoken, from the first day of the course. The goal of the programme is to improve the practical language abilities of the student. This is why theoretical teaching of German grammar is kept to what is necessary and meaningful. Points of grammar are illustrated principally in practical contexts and situations. In addition to the teaching materials which the language school teachers put together themselves, films, CDs, pod-casts, newspapers and recent articles will be used as learning tools. Teaching topics are kept up-to-date and, above all, selected and compiled to appeal to the tastes of younger people.
Afternoons: German carries on outside the classroom through “Deutsch Aktiv” sessions – mainly sporting activities on or off the water, or “Deutsch Kreativ” sessions – creative crafts, film and photography & arts (always supervised and led by German tutors). Please specify your afternoon session choice for at least your first week, when enrolling.
In total there are 40 German lessons over 2 weeks. All students on this course MUST have studied German for at least one year.

Public Holidays: Whilst there are public holidays during the year, they don’t coincide with the Teenage programme.
The course is a great balance of German language and social activities and aims to stimulate student interest and keep the lessons dynamic. The social activities provide contrast and bring an additional element of fun to the overall programme.
The German language college staff are aware that the students are on holiday and will do all they can to help students enjoy their German experience, both in and outside the classroom.
Situated along the shore line and on a small island in Lake Constance, in Southern Germany, Lindau is a picturesque location, with small streets, mediaeval buildings and fabulous lake and mountain views. It is within easy reach by air from Friedrichshafen, Zurich or Munich and has great appeal to our younger students.
Situated on the island, the Lake Constance Campus provides the ideal setting for learning that’s fun. Enjoy fantastic leisure activities and unforgettable holidays with new found friends from all over the world. The campus consists of around ten professionally equipped tents. Language instruction and the afternoon activities take place in these modern learning tents.
A range of activities are offered (accompanied/supervised by the monitors) as an inclusive part of this programme including:
1/ a daily social programme – various activities, a lake side barbecue, local bike or boat trips and welcome and farewell parties
2/ a half day trip each week to places such as Schloss Neuschwanstein, Castel Meersburg, or Rheinfall von Schaffhausen.
3/ one full day trip on Saturday to Munich or Constance
The college requires students to respect the following curfews:
Students aged 14/15 yrs old must be home by 22.00 hrs
Students aged 16 or 17 yrs old must be home at 23.00 hrs
With German hosts
Students share a room with one other student. Host families are carefully selected and many have worked with the school for many years. Some families have children of their own, others do not. The three main meals of the day are included. (lunch is taken at the school site).
In the Youth Hostel
The Hostel has been recently renovated, is a 5-minute bus ride from the campus and accommodates 4 people to a room.
The school’s Accommodation Officer ensures all meals are healthy and balanced. Students are either a short bus ride or walking distance from the college, some borrow bikes for the duration of their stay (approx 20 mins from the college). Please note hosts are not available on the island itself.
