French Easter A level course in France

Hilary Smith
French A level Easter course
Nice, France

I didn’t really have many preconceived ideas about the course.  I thought we’d be in small groups, taught by native French speakers and be staying with a “typical” French family.  The course was exactly as I expected, especially the high standard of teaching, college facilities and accommodation.

I liked the small classes on the French A level course in France, and thought my teacher, Christel, was excellent.  She helped to ensure I got my point across in class discussion because some of the other students were louder and more confident and talked a lot.

I loved the French language school in Nice.  It was very comfortable and welcoming.  It was easy to find on the first day and I felt able to talk to the staff.

I loved experiencing the French culture first hand and Nice had so much to offer.   I really liked the city of Nice and feel it is an appropriate place for this type of course.  The local people were mainly friendly and approachable – over the course of my stay I asked a lot of people for directions! I was staying near the Port, my friend and I felt safe in the evenings around the café area, and had a good laugh there, a couple of evenings.

I got on well with the other students, it was interesting to meet new people with the same goal as me – A’level exams.

I found the balance between fre time and lessons was just right and I really enjoyed my trip around Old Nice and the day excursion on Saturday to Monaco.  However I didn’t really go for the trip to the Matisse Museum, but then Art is not my thing!

My French accommodation in Nice was terrific.  Sandra was an extremely friendly lady and very welcoming.  She helped me, cooked lovely food and was happy to let me go out in the evening.  I couldn’t have hoped for a nicer hostess!

It was good for me, not only did it help my French but it was good for my self-confidence.  It was a great first experience of flying and being abroad on my own.  I hope I get the chance to something like this again some time.
