Holly: French Easter A level Revision course

“I didn’t really have many preconceived ideas about the course. I thought we’d be in small groups, taught by native speakers and be staying with a typical French family. Did the French A level Revision course meet my expectations? Definitely: especially the high standard of teaching, college facilities and accommodation.

I liked the small classes and thought my teacher Christel was excellent. The school was very comfortable and welcoming. It was easy to find, however on the first day I had trouble finding the front entrance (All part of the course!). The best part was experiencing French culture and what Nice had to offer. I loved meeting new people. The balance between free time and lessons was just right, and I really enjoyed the trip around Old Nice and the day excursion to Monaco.

I really liked the city of Nice, and feel it is an ideal setting for this course. The local people were friendly and approachable, which came in useful when I had to ask for directions. My friend and I were staying near the port, because of this we felt very safe in the evenings around the café area of Avenue Felix Faure, and had lots of giggles there.

My host family were extremely friendly and welcoming. Mrs Cavani helped me with my French and chatted to me for ages. She cooked me some lovely meals and was happy for me to go out in the evenings with my friends. I couldn’t have asked for a nicer host!

I would definitely go to Nice again, this course really improved my confidence. I would encourage people to go, even if it is only to say that you have flown abroad and negotiated a foreign city all by yourself!  One thing I will say is that if you’re a little shy and afraid of speaking in class, make sure you speak up and have a go even if you get into a muddle, its worth it in the end!”
