Lara: 12 week French Gap Year Course

“Greetings from Cannes!

I have been living here on the sunny Cote d’Azur for just over a week now, and so far I’m having a fantastic time. There was lots to take in at first; getting acquainted with the college and where everything was, exploring the quaint, but bustling town of Cannes, and being trained for the work I’m doing in the college. Not to mention the wide variety of people I have met from all over the world that also live and study in the college! Yet all the staff and other students have been really welcoming and friendly and it already feels like home.

Having 3 hours of French lessons every morning is already starting to improve my French, but has also made me realise there is so much more to learn! All the teachers are down to earth and enthusiastic, and the small class sizes mean you soon get to know everyone. Each new student has a short test to assess their French level when they arrive, so there is no possibility you’ll be in a class that is too hard or easy.

It certainly isn’t all work and no play here though! The beach is a minute’s walk away, and the college also organises activities and excursions to loads places of interest around Cannes. I’ve already been to St. Tropez for the day, and I’m hoping to go to Monaco soon as well. It’s impossible to be bored!
