German Over 30 Course: Berlin

Over 30 Course Update:

The Berlin school will not be offering this programme in 2024. We plan to reintroduce this course in 2025, and in the meantime, the Standard and Intensive Courses are excellent options for students.

Learn German and discover summertime Berlin

A fabulous campus school set in its own grounds.

Dates offered
June to August

  • 1 to 6 weeks German course duration
  • Course open to 30 yrs + age group only
  • 20 German Group lessons (as Standard Course)
  • Max. 12 people per group class
  • Open to elementary+ levels (no beginners)

The school provides a communicative approach where teachers aim to animate the students and get them to speak as much as possible. The teachers continuously correct students and encourage them to repeat, remember and do better next time.

Grammar is never studied in isolation, rather, it is built in to informative and stimulating texts that provide valuable cultural, political and historical background (adding some zest to the joy that is grammar study!). Lessons revolve around free class discussion, role-playing and conversation to help develop verbal expression, vocabulary and good sentence construction.

Activities

The school offer a range of additional cultural excursions, but honestly there is SO much to do, see and experience in Berlin and indeed just a step away from the language school that you can be as active or laid back as suits you!

Practical Information

The school is always busy with students of all ages (16 yrs +) on site, so if you want peace and quiet please don’t book a room on campus.  However the campus studios and Hotel room options are VERY popular so need to be booked well in advance to be sure of a place.

First Day

You will be expected to arrive at the Centre by 08.00 hrs on your first day, generally Monday. Sometimes the school requests students to arrive at 07.30 hrs during busy weeks.  Students are notified in advance if this applies to them.

Accommodation

German language students in Berlin can choose to stay on-site in the on-campus studios, in nearby private apartments, or experience sharing daily life with German hosts by staying in a private household. Alternatively, enjoy living an independent lifestyle (at a budget price) in a shared apartment with Berliners, in Berlin.  Please be aware that as Berlin is a large city, unless you decide to stay in the on-campus residence then you will have to expect a daily commute to college (approx 30+ mins each way).

Travel & Transfer

Arrive: Sunday PM
Depart: Saturday PM

We recommend students fly to one of Berlin’s international airports or take the train (Eurostar) to Berlin. You can then take public transport, a taxi or a college transfer service to your accommodation. Alternatively, Berlin’s public transport system is excellent and will make it easy for you to reach your accommodation at any time of the day or evening.
