The course is a more academically demanding course, than other French Teenager centres, yet still aims to stimulate student interest and keep the lessons dynamic. Optional social activities provide contrast and bring an additional element of fun to the overall programme. The French language college staff are aware that the students are on holiday and will do all they can to help students enjoy their French experience, both in and outside the classroom.
The Nice French college has an excellent academic record and is a year round language college for students aged 16 yrs+, during the summer (July and August) students aged 16/20 yrs are taught on a separate college site, also in the centre of Nice. The course is appropriate for teenagers who are independent and mature enough not to require constant direction from group leaders.
A range of activities are available and offered at extra cost. Students are advised of the options offered each week once in France via a notice board in the Centre.
Monday: Tour of Nice with a guide (free) |
One Afternoon: Trip to museum or other local sight with guide (allow EUR 20.00) |
One Evening: Guided Quiz night, bowling evening or Salsa night (allow EUR 20.00) |
However, the facilities of Nice tend to encourage most students to make their own entertainment out of class and we find that one-week students prefer to explore the city on their own or with other students, during their free time.
Teenagers aged 16/17 yrs old will need a signed parental permission to be able to go out in the evenings. Parents must indicate that either:
1/ no permission to go out beyond 7.00 pm
2/ students are free to go out up to 11.00 pm in the week &/or 12.00 at the weekend
3/ students can go out in Nice without restriction in the week &/or at the weekend *
* If students stay out without restriction, hosts are not expected to stay up and wait for their return, whereas they will for an 11.00 pm curfew.
French host based (private household) Can be booked on a single or shared room basis (students can be paired with another student of the same gender or stay with their own friend) on a half-board basis (breakfast and evening meal) with local hosts. French hosts in Nice live in apartment buildings in and around the city. Hosts offer you the chance to share daily French life with native speakers. They may well have two or more students staying with them.
Arrive: Sunday PM Depart: Saturday AM The French hosts will collect you, free of charge, from Nice airport/station by arrangement, (if at reasonable hour). The school will organise a taxi for the return trip on Saturday.
