Students follow the morning Standard Programme and in the afternoon enjoy two cookery workshops with a professional chef (and can join the regular French course activities offered by the language school). Tasting, producing and learning about French cuisine in a relaxed small group atmosphere is great fun, a super way to absorb more French and the perfect way to practise your French!

In the cookery school, a short walk from the French school in Montpellier, a gourmet chef will supervise the cookery workshop. He will explain in full, the French cookery specific vocabulary, the food and ingredients needed to prepare the recipe and the different cookery utensils used. He also offers his help and shares a few trade tips. This is a great way to practise your French outside the classroom during your French language course experience, in Montpellier.
Of course, the cookery classes are given in the French language which helps students to reinvest the language skills acquired at the French language school, to practice the language and improve it even further through full immersion.
In the cooking workshop, located close to the French language school in Montpellier, you will have the opportunity to discover French gastronomic culture by preparing a starter, a main course, and a dessert, which will then be enjoyed with a glass of wine. Each session is designed to provide both technical knowledge and new taste experiences. For example, you will learn how to make macarons, peel citrus fruits and remove the segments, cut like a chef, use a piping bag, glaze meat, roast fruits and vegetables, make a syrup, caramel, or hazelnut butter…
These cooking classes are open to anyone who wants to learn or improve their cooking skills. The proposed recipes are mostly inspired by French cuisine, featuring its classic dishes. Fresh ingredients are sourced locally, mainly from the Arceaux market, a well-known market for local producers.
Students are welcomed in groups of around 12 and cook in teams of 2 or 3 at a workstation, allowing them to practice as much as possible.
These workshops offer a friendly and fun way to immerse yourself in French culture while improving your French, with a pedagogical chef, passionate and keen to share.
