*Tuesday start date as Monday is a bank holiday. Where Monday is a public holiday students will effectively have a 3 day course week, so these weeks are not recommended for one week courses.

Leaving Certificate Group Course

26 group lessons of tuition per week
One lesson: 45 minutes
Max 10 students per morning group classes
Max 05 students per Leaving Certificate group classes

For current French language students (CEF A2 elementary+ ability only). Standard group classes are held in international student groups (not just Leaving Cert students)
Classes in the first week will begin on the 2nd day of the course, the 1st day is reserved for language tests, induction and tour of Nice.

Monday to Friday
08.45  – 12.00 hrs (or 15.30 – 18.45 hrs)
+ 3 PMs 13.15 – 15.30 hrs

Irish students can follow the Standard Course, as laid out below and then prepare for their Leaving Certificate in 6 additional classes held over three afternoons focused on both oral and written exam preparation. The afternoon classes consist of small group classes (maximum 5 per group) to really aid linguistic expression/comprehension and to develop self-confidence.
1 to 2 hours per day after lessons are dedicated to homework / All text material used in lessons deals with French literature and civilization / Tutors are all native speakers who are also professional teachers of French as a foreign language.

Cultural activities:
A range of activities are offered at extra cost. Students are advised of the options offered each week once in France via a notice board in the Centre. Although the proximity of the beach and the facilities of Nice tend to encourage students to make their own entertainment out of class.

Private study:
Students will be asked to complete some homework tasks each night in preparation for the following day’s classes.

School Description

The Nice French college has an excellent academic record and offers a year-round language college for students aged 16yrs+, during the summer students aged 16 yrs+ are taught on a separate college site when necessary, in July and August.

Language students can follow a one week+ French course, in this beautiful Riviera location. The course is appropriate for teenagers who are independent and mature enough not to require constant direction from group leaders.

Established in 1993, the French language school in Nice is situated a few blocks south of the Railway station, some 200 metres from the Nice Etoile shopping area, 400 meters from Place Massena and 10 minutes from the Promenade des Anglais by foot. Located in a quiet residential area the school is situated in a lovely mansion, surrounded by similar styled houses from the turn of the 20th century.

The year-round school consists of 10 classrooms, air conditioning, a library, computer room with Internet access and Wi-Fi. There are also hot and cold drinks machines and a small courtyard, shaded by trees where students can relax during breaks.

Accommodation

French host/ess based
Can be booked on a single or shared room basis (shared room pairings can be arranged, if you are not booking with a friend) on a half-board basis (breakfast and evening meal) with local hosts (who may live on their own, as a couple or as a family).
French hosts in Nice live in apartment buildings in and around the city. Hosts offer you the chance to share daily French life with native speakers.
Please note: They may well have more than one student staying with them.

Travel

Collection on arrival in Nice by hosts / Free on arrival
From either the airport/station by arrangement, free of charge (if at reasonable hour) but you can make your own way or book a taxi through the school for return trip.

Going out Permission

Teenagers aged 16/17 yrs old will need a signed parental permission to be able to go out in the evenings.
Parents must indicate that either:
1/ no permission to go out is given
2/ students are free to go out up to 11.00 pm in the week & at the weekend
3/ students can go out in Nice without restriction
French language students, over 18 years of age are not subject to parental permission rules. NB: Parents cannot set alternative curfews as the college is unable to police them.
