These short term Italian courses are aimed at those who need to build on current skills or who want to learn Italian in Florence, from scratch on an Italian immersion course, with their peers.
Older adults are placed in classes together wherever viable, however if necessary a student/s is placed in a class with a mixed aged group to ensure the language tuition is appropriate for their skill level.

– Where a language group of the correct level cannot be made up of just students on the Over 50 course, students are incorporated into the open classes of the Standard Course, offered to all language levels
– Accommodation is carefully chosen and is generally within 20-30 minutes of the school by foot or public transport
– All activities are guided and commentary is provided in Italian
Arrival at school for everyone (whatever their language level): 08.30 hrs
Beginners start their class at 09.00. Non-beginners will take a Language Level test to determine their class placement.
The class lists and timetables will be made available on the message board and non-beginners will start classes either in the morning or afternoon according to the schedule of the week.
First Week:
Enjoy a guided tour of Florence, a half-day excursion to the Chianti vineyards, take a trip to a wine cellar and sample a local specialty, a ‘merenda’ (this is a typical Tuscan afternoon snack); participate in a guided history of art visit (all in Italian of course!) and also tour of some local Artisan workshops (ceramics, etching, Florentine paper, shoemaker etc) and round off the week with a traditional Italian dinner in a typical ‘Trattoria’ in the city.
Second Week:
Escape the classroom at the weekend, with a guided group excursion in Tuscany to Siena, Pisa or Lucca.
In the second week visit Fiesole and the Roman Theatre or the Renaissance Villas and Gardens with a guide, take a tour of the Fashion Workshops or indulge yourself with some shopping in the famous Outlet stores, indulge your taste for Italian food in a Tuscan cookery class, visit one of Florence’s many museums or enjoy an ‘Apericena’ in a historic ‘Palazzo’ (a rich Italian buffet of traditional Florentine snacks)
You are welcome to choose from a range of accommodation choices:
Please note it is not possible to offer a private bathroom with host accommodation in Florence. If this is important to you, please discuss this with the CESA staff.
Arrive: Sunday PM
Depart: Saturday AM
We recommend students fly to Florence’s Intl airport: Amerigo Vespucci Airport
If arriving in Florence, you can either book the Italian language school private transfer or make your own way into the city centre and your accommodation.
