Japanese and Culture

Follow a Japanese language course in Tokyo, Kyoto or Fukuoka and spend your Saturday’s exploring the rich world of Japanese culture. Explore the fun, interesting and quirkier side of modern Japanese culture with local guides.

Cultural activities will take place on Saturdays from 9 or 10 am to 4 or 5 pm.
Normally, 2-3 extra-curricular activities are held per week.

Cultural activity examples:
– Movie night – big-screen movies at the school ~ free
– Japanese game night – learn traditional games such as hanafuda ~ free
– Friday party ~2,500 yen
– Street stall dining (a local specialty) ~2,000 yen
– Karaoke competition ~1,500 yen
– Japanese Tea ceremony experience class ~ 4,500 yen
– Calligraphy class for beginners ~ 4,500 yen
– Spring time cherry-blossom viewing party, with food and drink ~ 1000 yen

In Kyoto: Have a go at Taiko Drumming
Year round Learn all about the Tea Ceremony

Course Content:
20 group Japanese language lessons
+ a Saturday of cultural activity each week
Please book your departure on Sunday, so you are able to participate in the Saturday activities on your final weekend

Additional classes focus on Japanese pop culture ~ from manga to movies… to teach you the language as it is really spoken. You will study Japanese during the week and learn more about modern Japanese life during Saturday guided sessions (three events are arranged every Saturday).
