Course content

20 Spanish lessons per week (morning timetable). Language skills covered: Grammar exercises, Oral and written expression, Aural and written comprehension, Phonetics, vocabulary and syntax. Cultural activities & sports programme (one activity per day) A full-day excursion each Saturday

Programme details

Polish up, practise and expand your general Spanish language skills, including revision of/expansion of grammar structures and pronunciation and address any linguistic weaknesses. All tutors are all native speakers who are also professional teachers of Spanish as a foreign language.

Curfew & Supervision

13 / 14 yrs of age: Monday to Thursday & Sunday: Return to host/residence by 23.00 hrs (11 pm) Friday & Saturday: Return to host/residence by 00.30 hrs  (12.30 pm) No alternative curfew can be offered. Failure to comply will be notified to the parents.
15 / 17 yrs of age: Monday to Thursday & Sunday: Return to host/residence by 00.00 hrs (midnight) Friday & Saturday: Return to host/residence by 01.30 hrs  (01.30 am) No alternative curfew can be offered. Failure to comply will be notified to the parents.
Supervision: Teachers are based in Plaza Mayor during free time in afternoons and evenings, and students are given a 24/7 contact number for staff.

 

Activities

Included in course cost

  • One activity per afternoon (Monday to Friday)
  • One full day activity on Saturday
  • Free day, spent with hosts on Sunday

An interesting programme of fun activities and a variety of sports is offered. One activity, each afternoon Monday to Friday (for example: games, swimming pool trip, Spanish film evening, sports, guided tour of Salamanca, cycling, river boat trip, evening disco). On Saturday there is a full day excursion (Segovia, Avila or La Alberca etc). On Sunday, the students spend the day with their host family or have a free day if in the residence.

Accommodation

Host families (June/August)
Hosts live within walking distance of the school and offer shared room accommodation to either two or four students per household, following the same programme.  Generally, 10/20 mins walk from the college.
Student residence (June/August)
The residence is just a 10-minute walk away from both the school and the Plaza Mayor, and offers double room accommodation, with your fellow students. The owners of the residence live on-site and are available 24 hrs a day. There is wifi & computer access at the residence.

 

Transfers

Arrival: Airport transfers from/to Madrid airport by school organised coach at set times, are included in the programme. Flights should arrive on the Sunday before the course starts before 16.00hrs to allow time for the coach transfer to Salamanca.
Alternative private transfer:
Otherwise an individual transfer will be arranged for late arriving students.
This costs EUR 185.00 one way.
The student is taken by school staff from Madrid airport to Madrid bus station, bought a ticket, placed on a direct coach to Salamanca and then met on arrival in Salamanca by a second member of staff who will then escort them to their accommodation.
Departure: Transfers are arranged on Saturday after the programme finishes. Flights should leave Madrid no earlier than 12 noon. If an earlier transfer is required, an individual transfer will be arranged and EUR 185.00 charged.
Unaccompanied Minors: If your child is travelling with an airline who requires them to book the UM service, the school will need to make an extra charge, to cover the extra time and admin required to meet/drop the student off.
