These short term Italian language courses are aimed at mature students who wish to improve their Italian in Rome with their peers. Open to all language levels, these Italian courses concentrate on developing general language skills (speaking, listening, reading and writing) and are always held in Italian.
In the morning you will take part in the Italian language group lessons according to your language level
In the afternoon or evening you will enjoy cultural activities suggested by the school
Group lessons follow the Standard Course format offered at the language school
Set start dates are offered throughout the year

Public Holidays: Whilst there are public holidays during the year, they don’t coincide with the Over 50 course dates.
– Where a language group of the correct level cannot be made up of just students on the Over 50 course, students are incorporated into the open classes of the Standard Course, offered to all language levels
– Accommodation is carefully chosen and is generally within 20-50 minutes of the school by foot or public transport
– All activities are guided and commentary is provided in Italian
Arrival at school for everyone (whatever their language level): 08.30 hrs
Beginners start their class at 09.00. Non-beginners will take a Language Level test to determine their class placement.
The class lists and timetables will be made available on the message board and non-beginners will start classes either in the morning or afternoon according to the schedule of the week.
1st week: afternoon programme
Guided tour of ancient Rome
Visit of famous historical sites (Coliseum, Palantine Hill, Forum Romanum, etc.)
Special dinner in Ancient Rome
Guided visit of the Vatican Museums
2nd week: afternoon programme
The program of the One-Week-Course is followed by:
One day field trip to “Frascati’s” vineyards and its historical and artistic centre with lunch in a typical ‘fraschetta’
Visit of ‘Porta Portese’ Flea Market and Farmer’s Market
Sunset visit of the Jewish ghetto
Guided shopping “From the Market to the Table”
Visit of Art Galleries

Please note it is not possible to offer a private bathroom with host accommodation in Rome. If this is important to you, please discuss this with the CESA staff.
Arrive: Sunday PM
Depart: Saturday AM
We recommend students fly to Rome’s Fiumicino airport or take the train (Eurostar) to Rome. You can then take a taxi to your accommodation. You are welcome to book a transfer service at additional cost from Rome’s airport to your Italian accommodation, but we recommend you book this when your enrol.
