French Course Description

French Course Timetable: Mon/Fri : 9.30 – 10.45 / 11.00 – 12.00hrs
Guided Activity Programme: 6 afternoons / 2 evenings / 1 whole day

Linguistic development encouraged through plays, debates and documents
Develop your communication & comprehension skills with your peers
A2 High elementary+ French ability required (please discuss with CESA).

The French language classes in Nice cover the topics of the cultural activities in the afternoon. Linguistic development is encouraged with the help of plays, debates and document based work. This course provides a highly practical approach to the language and is fabulous for students keen to focus on developing their self-confidence in both communication and comprehension.

A full social and activity programme is offered as an inclusive part of this course.

We anticipate receiving around 10 students on the course each start date.

The students on this programme are taught together, with the tutor framing lessons so students of different levels can participate in accordance with their current knowledge.
If you’d prefer to study in a strictly defined level class (A2, B1, B2, C1), that teaches French following a more academic methodology, we would recommend joining the general group programmes offered in Nice, for example the Standard French Course.

The advantage of the Over 50 Course is that you will be with your peer group and can participate with them in a more relaxed class environment, with some lovely activities included in the programme.

Activities

The cultural excursions include a reasonable amount of walking around the city. If this an issue, please discuss with CESA.

Practical Information

All excursions take place by bus or train with a teacher or the activities leader from the school (no accompanying member of staff for an activity on Sunday).

Visits to towns or villages will involve some walking, but are only for short distances at a gentle pace and with a coffee break…

The classes and activities are exclusively for Over 50 students except for the Saturday activity which is open to all students.

Host/ess accommodation is organised and overseen by the school staff and is usually within 20-25 minutes of the school by foot or public transport. Students who prefer not to stay with school arranged hosts generally book their own hotel accommodation.

All activities are accompanied and the guides always communicate in French.

The activity programme during the February session may be partly focused on Carnival events

Travel & Transfer

The majority of students fly to Nice airport and then take a taxi from the airport to their accommodation.

If you’ve booked host accommodation with half-board, your hosts will collect you on arrival if free, on Sunday (at a reasonable hour).
