Beijing, the capital of the Peoples Republic of China, is the centre of the nations politics, culture and international exchanges and a modern metropolis full of vitality. Beijing has a population of 21 million inhabitants; living in the city and the rest on the outskirts.

Famous for its ancient heritage and historic sites, including the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the Temple of Heaven and its hutongs with courtyard homes. Massive investment has cleaned up much of the city, a home to sky scrappers, 8 lane freeways and endless neon signs. It is brash and polluted (endless traffic jams) but also elegant and charming, but always dynamic!
Weather & Climate in Beijing
The city’s climate is a rather dry, monsoon-influenced humid continental climate, characterised by hot, humid summers due to the East Asian monsoon, and generally cold, windy, dry winters that reflect the influence of the vast Siberian anticyclone. Spring can bring sandstorms blowing in from the Mongolian steppe, accompanied by rapidly warming, but generally dry, conditions. Autumn, like spring, sees little rain but is crisp and short.
The climate can be extreme (very cold in winter below ooc, and hot in the summer, reaching 35oc), we recommend you visit in Spring or Autumn.
After the Beijing Olympics officials reported the city was enjoying the best air quality in recent years, because of the measures taken and the city is building on this, with a huge tree belt development around the city, work on the parks and a major clean up of the canals. Independent experts agree that the air quality in the Chinese capital has improved dramatically due to intensive efforts by the government this decade.
