All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Shanghai, by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the Chinese language school.

Certainly using your Chinese skills in Shanghai, where the language is spoken immeasurably increases the speed and quality of learning. The Chinese languages school is always keen to take the students out of the classroom to participate in excursions and cultural activities. The school has experienced coordinators who will guide you so that you can better understand the unique character of Shanghai and it’s surroundings.

A variety of activities are proposed each month (at additional cost).
    Sample excursions :

Yuyuan Garden and Temple of the City God
The streets around the South Bund Area is where you will find Old Shanghai. Its main attractions are the Temple of the City God around which you will find many small souvenir shops, snack restaurants and the famous Yuyuan Garden. The Garden dates back from the Ming Dynasty and features pavilions, halls, rockeries and ponds, which all have unique characteristics.

    Taikang Road
A haven for creative artists, small lanes with relaxing bistros, specialty shops and a strong bohemian flavour make Taikang Road a little-known gem in Shanghai. It’s the perfect place for an afternoon of browsing through shops, admiring in art galleries and conversations over coffee.

Chinese Martial Arts: Tai Chi and Kung Fu
Martial Arts are a great way to exercise as well as get to know the Chinese culture. Tai Chi consists of gentle movements, which let you relax through concentration and improve your balance and flexibility. Kung Fu teaches you form, fighting, self-defence, sparring and respect.

Modern Shanghai : A day in Pudong
Former President Bill Clinton likened the area to NY’s Manhattan. Pudong is the new development area in Shanghai, featuring the highest buildings of China, the highest hotel of the world and Shanghai ‘s landmark Oriental Pearl Tower. You can stroll by the river, from where you get the best view of the rustic Bund, in quiet Century Park or in the huge Super Brand Mall.

    Visit Tongchuan Road Seafood Market
Chinese food is so diverse, that it’s considered locally to be the best cuisine in the world. In the region around Shanghai , people love to eat seafood: fish, crabs, shells and anything that lives in the water. Seafood isn’t only delicious; it’s healthy as well. Visit this amazing Seafood Wet Market and afterwards pop into one of the many restaurants for a taste!

    Shanghai on Foot
The French Concession is a wonderful place for a long lazy afternoon stroll. See the century-old villas, find many small shops and galleries and see how people really live. The walk takes you all the way to the Zhongshan Park Area which is getting more and more popular these days.
