Learn Russian in Riga: Location

Riga, the historic capital of Latvia, is the largest city among the Baltic States and home to a third of the country’s population. The locals speak Latvian, around 50% of the city speak Russian, and many also speak English. The historic city centre is recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage Site and has beautiful Art Nouveau architecture. The old town (Vecriga), the medieval heart of the city, is home to the widely famous Blackheads’ House in the town hall square. Just outside the city is a seaside resort with wide beaches and pretty parklands – a great place to unwind away from the city centre.
