  • Beginners are welcome to join an open group Standard Course and join the Over 50 activity programme
  • Timetable: Morning classes (09.30 to 12.00 hrs) with a 30 minutes break
  • An activity programme is offered over 7 afternoons, 2 evenings and includes one full day excursion

Lessons are always held in the mornings, Monday to Friday. This is a short term French language course specifically aimed at older language students who wish to build on their current skills or who want to kick start their French language learning from scratch with an immersion course in France. French classes cover the topics of the cultural activities in the afternoon. Linguistic development is encouraged with the help of plays, debates and document based work. The course provides a highly practical approach to the language and is fabulous for developing self-confidence in communication and comprehension.
If you are a Beginner or at Elementary level, please talk to CESA, you are welcome to join a Standard Course (with mixed aged classes) and then join in the activities and excursions with the others on the programme

Activities

The cultural excursions include a reasonable amount of walking around the city. If this an issue, please discuss with CESA.

1st week
Monday 13.30 – 16.30: Visit Nice’s old town, discover it’s history and colourful places
Tuesday 13.30 – 18.00: Excursion to Beaulieu and Saint Jean Cap Ferrat, visit the Kerylos and Rothschild villa
Wednesday 17.00 – 20.00: Cuisine Provençale, Wine tasting
Thursday 13.30 – 18.00: Excursion to Cagnes sur Mer, visit the Renoir museum
Friday afternoon: Free time

2nd week
Saturday 09.00 – 18.00 : Excursion to Entrevaux, visit the medieval village
Sunday afternoon : Classical music, enjoy a concert at the Nice Opera House
Monday afternoon: Guided visit of the Chagall museum
Tuesday 13.30 – 18.00: Excursion to Villefranche sur Mer
Wednesday 18.00 – 20.00: Salsa Evening
Thursday 19.30 – 23.00: Dinner in a restaurant with school staff
Friday: Shopping

First Day

Arrival at school for everyone: 09.00hrs

Students will have assessment tests in the form of a written and oral entrance test.
Followed by a guided tour of Nice in the afternoon.
Classes will begin on Tuesday morning in the first week.

Practical Information

– Excursions take place by bus or train and the group is accompanied by a teacher or the social director (this isn’t valid for the 1st Sunday and the 2nd Friday)
– For the visits of towns and villages we only choose short walking distances with several breaks
– Besides the excursion to Entrevaux, tuition and activities are reserved to seniors only and no other student will be mixed to the group
– Accommodation is carefully chosen and is generally within 20-25 minutes of the school by foot or public transport
– All activities are guided and commented in French language

The activity programme during the February session is partly focused on Carnival events

Travel & Transfer

The majority of students fly to Nice airport.
Please take a taxi from the airport to your accommodation.

If you’ve booked host accommodation with half-board, your hosts will collect you on arrival if free, on Sunday (if at a reasonable hour).
