Spanish courses for Teenagers in San Sebastian

Students can join as complete beginners on set dates. Classes for beginners are tailored to provide them with the foundations of Spanish, in both written and spoken Spanish. Most teenage students attending the course will have already studied Spanish at high school and will be placed in elementary to intermediate level classes.

The school accepts students aged 14 to 17 yrs of age on this programme. Most of the students attending will be 14 to 16 yrs of age.

Teenage students attend the programme from across Europe and beyond. There are always a variety of nationalities represented on the courses.

School staff and hosts are always available to support any student who feels unwell.

They will be taught level appropriate written and oral skills in group classes by native speaking Spanish teachers.

Each Monday throughout the summer Spanish is taught at A2 (elementary level) to B2 (high intermediate level) in different classes. There are also set dates for beginners on offer.

Yes. They will be given a safety briefing and then taught the basics under the supervision of qualified surf instructors. The surf boards used are perfect for beginners who require maximum buoyancy.

Yes if you book it when you book your Spanish course. In 2027 the surfing lessons cost: EUR 90.00 per week and needs to booked in advance, when you book the course place.

They will travel by bus to school from their hosts. They will quickly become familiar with the route. Their hostess will ensure they know the route and CESA will advise you of the details prior to arrival.

With your permission your child can go out in the evening, up to the set curfew, if they are 16 or 17 yrs of age (or 15 yrs old with permission depending on when they turn 16. Please discuss the details with CESA staff). There is no supervision provided in the evening, but all students can contact their hosts and are given an emergency number, in case they have an issue. Students aged 15 yrs or younger are only allowed out in the evenings with their hosts, not on their own.

14/15 yr olds: Are not allowed out after the evening meal, unless with their hosts *
16/17 yr olds: Monday to Thursday & Sunday: 23.00hrs / Friday & Saturday: 01.00hrs

* Those turning 16 yrs in 2027 may have the 16/17 yrs curfew assigned on request.

The course price includes the Spanish tuition, surfing (if booked in advance), host accommodation and breakfast and dinner with the hosts and a picnic lunch provided by the hosts.
Additional costs you need to budget for include travel to San Sebastian, taxi transfer fees (Bilbao, Biarritz & San Sebastian) insurance cover, money for a weekly bus pass and personal expenditure.

Parents will be provided with host contact details, including a phone number and email address before the course starts, so you can always reach out to the hostess, as well as the school staff or CESA UK staff throughout the programme.

Spanish summers are hot. However San Sebastian is located on the Atlantic coast, in the north, so benefits from the sea breezes but you should still expect hot weather.  We anticipate temperatures to average 23 oC in June, 26 oC in July and 25 oC in August. They may reach in to the 30s in a heatwave, but will still be cooler than the Southern regions of Spain.
