This Spanish A’ level revision course offers A’ level Spanish language students the opportunity to overcome any linguistic weaknesses, giving them the confidence to communicate effectively in Spanish and to develop their Spanish language knowledge, in a one week course in Madrid.

The programme combines group and private Spanish lessons, for students who wish to prepare for their exams in the half-term and Easter holiday periods. The school have experienced native speaking tutors, who are academically rigorous, but in equal measure encouraging. The aim is to ensure you sit your exam with justified self-confidence, post your studies in Madrid.

The school is closed on the following public holidays. Group lessons are not made up or refunded. Private lessons will be made up in the week. 2024:  Friday 29 March
When courses start on Tuesday, instead of Monday due to a public holiday, students will take their placement test and go on a tour of the city on the Monday.

As with all exam preparation, the key is to practise exactly what will come up and the tutors will help you develop your Spanish language skills and confidence to ensure you get the best results you can on the day of your exam.

Course Content

Please note this is a Spanish language, not a literature orientated programme. Please check with your UK school, are your Orals before or after Easter? This will affect whether you should choose the February or Easter holiday programme. You can polish up general Spanish language skills including revision of grammar structures and pronunciation and address any linguistic weaknesses.

Choice of timetable determined by School Staff according to language level, rather than student choice. Generally private lesson are held in the afternoon (no exact times can be given)

# If the school is very busy, an alternative afternoon timetable of 13.15 to 17.45 hrs may be run as well. Placement depends on school staff, not student preference.  An afternoon timetable is unlikely, but is possible.

* Students who take their test in advance of arrival will have their full 4 lessons on Monday.

School Description

The city of Madrid and the personal attention provided by the school staff, in combination with high quality Spanish language studies makes it an attractive location for our A level language students.

Students love the friendly and personal atmosphere at the Spanish school in Madrid, and the range of cultural and social activities offered. Facilities include 11 classrooms, some with a TV, video and audio machines. There is also a video-room/library where students can borrow Spanish books and DVD’s and a student lounge for students to relax at break. There are also computers available and the Spanish school has WiFi throughout. Transport connections are excellent: many buses and two underground lines stop nearby.

Cultural Activities

Students love to explore the city themselves, there is plenty to discover; world class museums, monumental architecture, a beautiful market, the wonderful Retiro Park etc

The school will offer a half-day guided visit (Prado, Reina Sofia or Sorolla) and various social events (e.g. a bowling or tapas evening). Each event has to be paid for in Madrid and a minimum of 3 students are required for it to take place.

A Saturday event is arranged as well (again a minimum 3 students are required); El Escorial, Segovia, Toledo or Alcala. Students can choose to book an extra night, so they can participate in the Saturday event.

Under 18s

The parents of students aged under 18 yrs of age will have to complete a parental permission form, to attend this course. There are no set curfew rules applied, but students are expected to keep sensible hours and attend all classes. Please note that the school is an adult orientated environment and students need to be mature enough to keep regular hours so that they benefit from the programme.

Accommodation

With local Spanish hosts. You will be placed in a single room with a hostess, on a half-board basis. Students are only placed in a shared room with another student, if this is booked with a friend. Students under 18 yrs of age are required to stay with hosts, not in a Hotel or apartment, unless accompanied by a parent/guardian.

Meals: Breakfast and evening meal are provided by the hosts.

Students can make their own way to their hosts independently or book a school arranged transfer service: EUR 75.00 (EUR 95.00 out of hrs)/one way service
Madrid airport/host accommodation (on a one way or two way basis).
