Learn Chinese in Shanghai: Accommodation
The Chinese language school provides accommodation with Chinese hosts or in shared apartments. Of course you are also welcome to book a Hotel but generally students take one of the school arranged accommodation choices. Shanghai is a large city, so commuting is an unavoidable fact of life, but the school staff have worked hard to offer accommodation within comfortable reach of the college, generally no more than 45 minutes (by bus/metro).
Host Accommodation
Staying with a host family, single room, breakfast & evening meal.

You will be provided with a bed, bedding, TV, desk and a shared bathroom. If you wish to book your accommodation for longer than your course that is no problem, please inform us and we can provide that for you.
You will share your bathroom with local Chinese students. Please be aware that hygiene standards differ throughout the world, what you consider hygienic and what Chinese students consider hygienic may differ, so please be open minded and aware of this before booking this option.
B/ Single room – private bathroom:

These apartments offer a bedroom with a sizeable double bed (and if another person stays with you there is no extra charge).
If you are placed on one of the higher floors, you will enjoy a fantastic view of Beijing city. This option is ideal if you would prefer a degree of privacy and independence.
Travel
Arrive: Sunday (at the latest), we recommend students arrive on Saturday, when possible, to enable them to recover from their travels before starting the programme.
Depart: Saturday AM
Fly direct to one of Shanghai’s two International airports; Pudong Airport (PVG) 19 miles from the city, or Hong Qiao (SHA) 8 miles out from the city. Students are welcome to book a transfer service provided by the Chinese Language School (at additional cost).
Travel & Support Packages
Standard Arrival Pack ( recommended)
Mobile SIM card with data and minutes – the school provides you with 10GB of data and 300 minutes of call time. You can ask the staff in Shanghai how to top up when you arrive or when you need to.
Airport / Train Station pick-up – When you arrive in Shanghai staff will be there to meet you, which takes the stress away as you won’t have to tackle public transport on your own.
Public Transport Card – You will be given a card which can be used on the buses or the metro. It has a 10/12 trips credit on it, ready for you to use.
Bank assistance – In China the banking rules are always changing, so it difficult for staff to know in advance what they will be (we know this sounds strange, but this is China), the staff will tell you which bank currently has the most advantageous policies for students. The staff cannot guarantee they can help you open a bank account, but they will do their very best to enable you to do so.
Register with the Police – Foreigners must register with the police when you arrive at your accommodation. The staff will assist you with this.
Free Bike – this can be arranged ONLY if the school staff are able to open a Chinese Bank account for you. Without the account they cannot sign you up to the bike sharing apps. If they can, they will.
