Learn French in Rouen: Accommodation

Can be booked on a single room basis (shared room only available if staying with a friend) with local hosts. Hosts live in apartments in and around the city and its residential areas, some live further out in houses (one hostess lives in a beautiful 17th c. manor house, some 45 minutes commute away by bus). They may have more than one student staying with them at a time. They will collect you from Rouen station by arrangement, free of charge (if at reasonable hour) but you are expected to arrange your own return trip at the end of the course.

If you’d like to have a private bathroom, but still enjoy staying with a French host – please let us know, this can generally be arranged, given notice (at extra cost).

Option 1: These furnished studios are fully equipped student friendly accommodation, with a kitchenette and bathroom. Facilties include; disabled access, a reception area, monitored Entry System, washing machines, bicycle hire, hoover, fax, ironing room, parking, breakfast lounge, television lounge. The residence is only 15/20 minutes from the French language college and just 2 minutes walk from the nearest metro (light rail) stop.

Option 2: Long term rental residence accommodation is offered (minimum 4 month rental) in two residence buildings with 200 studios. Electricity is an additional cost (allow approx 15 to 20 Euros per month). Less modern than the Option 1 residence, and further from the metro (near Rouen CHU : 20 minutes walking from the metro, or a few minutes walking to get a bus going to the metro station). However they are very good value for long term students.

NB: For both these residence options a deposit of one month’s rent will be charged which will be be refunded entirely at the end of the stay, unless the student has caused any damage to the studio room.

Some French families in Rouen have very large houses and have transformed the upper floors into self-contained studios, with double bedrooms or in some cases one single or twin bedrooms. They offer independence but contact with local French people. Generally there is around a 20/30 minutes from the French language college. These studios can be booked individually by students (and shared with other students) or for sole occupancy, for a minimum of one month. Electricity will be charged at cost. Max 5 students per studio, sharing kitchen and bathroom facilities, with their own bedroom.
