Learn French in Rouen: Language Courses

A long term French language course option, ideal for University students, graduates or any adult student looking to study French in Rouen, in-depth over two or more months for maximum impact and progress. These longer duration general French courses are aimed at anyone who wishes to build on their current French skills or who wants to learn French from beginner level, in Rouen. They are the same format as the Standard Course, but the longer duration ensures far greater progress and more opportunity to put your French into practise, developing linguistic confidence and proficiency to a higher level, than a short term course can offer. Classes are based on communicative French and structural progression in mornings. The French school in Rouen offers 6 different language level groups from beginners to advanced ability and courses start every Monday. On the first day there is an evaluation and needs analysis session in the morning and on the first afternoon they offer a free orientation session for new students, introducing them to Rouen. A short term general French language course aimed at anyone who wishes to build on their current French skills or who wants to learn French from beginner level, in Rouen. Classes are based on communicative French and structural progression in mornings. The French school in Rouen offers 6 different language level groups from beginners to advanced ability and courses start every Monday. On the first day there is an evaluation and needs analysis session in the morning if you have not already completed an on line test, followed by the first lessons of the week, plus on that first afternoon they offer a free orientation session for new students, introducing them to Rouen. Morning lessons follow the same format as the Standard Courses, based on practising and developing communicative French and structural progression. This is the most popular group course option in Rouen, as it makes best use of your time in France to ensure maximum progress over several weeks of French study.
The afternoons additional workshops are offered in the French school in Rouen, covering a different daily topic:

Monday : Vocabulary and reading
Tuesday : Written comprehension and writing skills
Wednesday : Listening skills and French life and culture
Thursday : DELF DALF preparation or Listening & speaking practise
Friday : Speaking skills practise

Levels : Ideal for Elementary (A2) level or above

Short term, intensive French language courses aimed at those who need good French skills for business reasons, but cannot dedicate long to their studies in Rouen. Such small group work really aids progress and develops confidence with like minded peers. Please note: Private lessons will be provided instead of the mini group course, if it is not possible to offer a group at a particular language level.

Standard Course + 10 group lessons concentrating on DELF/DALF preparation

• PM exam preparation classes: 14.00 to 16.00 hrs
• Exam registration fee is an extra cost

These five week+ DELF preparation lessons help students prepare specifically for the DELF / DALF exams. You will study all four language skills, (reading, writing listening and speaking) on the Standard Course and the French school’s friendly and experienced staff will do all they can to ensure that you reach your DELF/DALF goal as quickly as possible.

The afternoon classes will give you a command of the skills you need to pass these exams.

Oral comprehension and expression:

• The ability to respond to questions relating to short audio documents (news flashes, polls, commercials) or to longer audio documents (presentations, discussions, interviews)
• The ability to summarise an audio document (social sciences, pure sciences), articulate and present its contents clearly within the context of  debate with other French speakers)
• The ability to produce an expose based on several written documents, sustain a discussion and defend your own opinions with confidence
• The ability to express and defend and argue a personal point of view about potentially controversial topics

Written comprehension and expression:

• The ability to answer questions relating to a literary or press text, or relating a speech, a report, a literary text or article from the press
• The ability to produce a summary of several written documents (social sciences, pure sciences) of different lengths
• The ability to write a well-argued and solidly structured essay
• The ability to analyse the content of a document and extract useful information from the text as it relates to specific questions
• The ability to express and defend and argue a personal point of view about potentially controversial topics

The course focuses on the different linguistic components required to pass these diplomas namely grammar, vocabulary, written and conversational forms.

In the special DELF/DALF preparation lessons every students works to his or her level and the school provide a programme tailored to their individual needs and personalised assistance from the first day.

If you are not taking the exam until several weeks after your course in Rouen, students can carry on emailing examples of exercises (from the course book included in their programme) and pieces of work which will be corrected and sent back to the student with teacher feedback!

Short term French language courses aimed at those who need to build on current skills or who want to kick start their French language learning with a course in Rouen, with additional private tuition (see French course methodology). Private classes can be personally tailored to encourage rapid linguistic development.
