Learn German in Vienna: Social Life
All students are encouraged to broaden their appreciation of the German language, outside the classroom, by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the German Language School.
At least twice a week the German School organises talks, discussions and videos on Austrian music, art, literature etc. They also arrange films, tours of the many sights of Vienna, and a range of college parties and sporting events. Night time brings opportunities to sample Viennese opera, concerts, theatre and the local bars and clubs. Weekend trips take in local examples of famous architecture and medieval castles, and popular trips to nearby Salzburg or Graz.
There is plenty for the sports minded to do, students and teachers are known to arrange football and volleyball derbies. You can also swim, cycle, sail, surfboard and water-ski throughout the summer on Donauinsel (Danube island).
The German Language School arranges a half or full day excursion to Salzburg, Budapest or Graz.
Students are asked to pay entrance fees and public transport tickets etc but they do not have to pay extra for the presence of the guide.
On the first day you will receive a welcome pack that contains a wealth of information on Vienna, college tips and a Student Card that entitles you to a variety of discounts at various concert halls, restaurants, sports facilities and shops around the city.
