All students are encouraged to make the most of their time in Heidelberg by participating in the guided excursions and activities offered by the college.

The German language school in Heidelberg offers a diverse programme of activities accompanied by a teacher. The students are offered the opportunity to get to know the many facets of Heidelberg ‘s cultural life and the free time activities available. Participation in these events is free, with the exception of charges for entrance fees, public transport or drinks.

Fixed highlights in the German school’s programme include a welcome party at the beginning of the month in a party cellar in the old town, a barbeque party – weather permitting at the same location, a tour of Heidelberg at the beginning of the month.

The picturesque boat trip on the Neckar really is a must do and is always popular: departing from the shore of the Heidelberg old town, travel past the Roman fortress of Dilsberg and finally reach your destination – Neckarsteinach, with its four medieval castles. Bring a camera this is photo opportunity heaven!

The bike tour along the Neckar to Ladenburg is fantastic and books up quickly.

Other highlights being the walk up Philosopher’s Path, the picnic by the Neckar as well as pedal boat trips on the river. The excursions to explore Heidelberg’s vineyards or the German wine route are always fun as are the Brewery tours. There are “Stammtisch” (get togethers) each Monday. Bike tours, walks, picnics, museum visits, garden tours and opportunities to experience local concerts, theatre nights and even open air cinema evenings (in the summer)

Occasionally there are also longer trips planned, such as the trip to Speyer , with its cathedral, baths and technology museum, or the trip to Strasbourg or even to Paris or to the Munich October beer festival.
